1000 Friends of Connecticut is proud to be included in a regional network of organizations that act as the state-wide watchdogs of Smart Growth policies for both the Tri-State and New England regions. They promote common sense development and help keep their respective communities vibrant and healthy on the state level, while also working closely with our national affiliates, Smart Growth America, to align our state and regional efforts with federal initiatives.
National Affiliates Smart Growth America 202-207-3355 Smart Growth America advocates for people who want to live and work in great neighborhoods. We believe smart growth solutions support businesses and jobs, provide more options for how people get around and make it more affordable to live near work and the grocery store. Our coalition works with communities to fight sprawl and save money. We are making America’s neighborhoods great together. New England Smart Growth Coalition Massachusetts Smart Growth Alliance 617-263-1257 The Massachusetts Smart Growth Alliance (MSGA) promotes healthy and diverse communities, protects critical environmental resources and working landscapes, advocates for housing and transportation choices, and supports equitable community development and urban reinvestment. Grow Smart Rhode Island 401-273-5711 Grow Smart Rhode Island advocates for sustainable economic growth that builds upon and strengthens Rhode Island's exceptional quality of place. Plan New Hampshire 603-452-PLAN Plan NH has a Vision of a New Hampshire that is vibrant and healthy for its people, its economies and the environment. Plan NH's role, or Mission, in achieving that Vision is to encourage good planning and design and development because what is built, and where and how its built has a significant impact on that vibrancy and health. Vermont Smart Growth Collaborative 802-864-6310 The Vermont Smart Growth Collaborative is a group of ten highly respected organizations working together to shape and implement smart growth policies and practices around the state. Its mission is to promote growth and development in downtowns and village centers while protecting Vermont's open landscape. GrowSmart Maine 207-699-4330 GrowSmart Maine promotes sustainable prosperity for all Mainers by integrating working and natural landscape conservation, economic growth and community revitalization. Smart Growth Groups in the Tri-State Region New Jersey Future 609-393-0008 New Jersey Future is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that brings together concerned citizens and leaders to promote responsible land-use policies. The organization employs original research, analysis and advocacy to build coalitions and drive land-use policies that help revitalize cities and towns, protect natural lands and farms, provide more transportation choices beyond cars, expand access to safe and affordable neighborhoods and fuel a prosperous economy.
